Inmate 95067104: Nealey, Blake

I do believe that this morning was the first morning in twelve years that I've had breakfast on a school term weekday. Extraordinary.

Surprised that I hadn't yet bumped into any of the old RWS lot at Racodac, I sent both Simon M. and Steve P. text messages. Both replied fairly quickly, Steve even having a pop about not hearing from me. (Another case of email gone wrong, methinks.) Of the two, Simon was the only one going in today. And I didn't get to see him.

At around 10:00 AM I went to an empty Graphics Studio. So I went to reception to ask where I should be, as the sheet didn't specify a location. Whilst waiting in the queue, Jordan W. of the RWS days entered the building and we had a bit of a chat. Shortly after he'd gone, Yemi A. (also of the RWS days) entered the building and we too had a bit of a chat.

As with laughing in the canteen yesterday morning, seeing the two lads took some of the edge off of being there, if only through some sense of familiarity.

Standing with me in the queue was Stephanie S, although at the time we didn't know each other's names. Once we'd established that we were both on the Moving Image Design course - and both didn't know where we should be - we sort of stuck together for most of the day.

We discovered that we were supposed to be in the Lecture Hall, which, size-wise, is in-between the largest and smallest screening rooms in the Bromley Odeon. The talks lasted for about an hour, and Ian J. of yesterday made his presence known by prodding me in the back.

After a short break spent in the canteen with Stephanie, Ian and somebody else, we went back to the Lecture Hall for the IT induction. It was the most entertaining by far, as the majority of it was done via a very well-put-together video presentation. It wasn't too formal either.

After the presentation - and a time-filler in the form of an online flying/fishing/pancake photo album - the group was split in half. My surname was incorrectly read out as "Nealey" which entertained me greatly - perhaps more so because Ian had commented in the canteen that I had a "super hero name".

A short journey to an IT training room later and I was given my identification card. Astonishingly, the photograph of me has come out remarkably well.

It was in this room that I was shown how to do the basic networky type tasks that I already knew. Oh, and apparently we can copy anything into a special folder and it goes directly onto a web server for retrieval anywhere in the world with Internet access. Marvellous stuff indeed. But enough of that.

I was on my way home by around 1:00 PM; Ian joined me on this journey, as he's currently living not too far down the road from me. So that was nice, especially seeing as a secondary school a couple of stops ahead had finished early - meaning the bus ended up overcrowded with horrible little... people.

And here we have it: the weekend. Bliss.
